Chilean health system

Hello everyone! in this new blog I will give my opinion about the health system in Chile and the existing gap.

My opinion about the health system in Chile is, unfortunately, dire, like most things in this country.

Why do I think this? Well, basically because I cannot conceive the idea that in this country there are two types of health care: one for the rich and one for the poor.

Although this sad reality is known by most Chileans, I have heard it said that this is not so... but, how can it not be so, if you try to see the different realities that are experienced on the one hand in public hospitals and on the other hand in private clinics.

As in most services in Chile, in the health system there is a big gap in terms of economic class, one public and one private, that is, one for those who have money and one for those who do not, and as is to be expected, these two systems work very differently and unequally.

In the private one, that is, for people who have the resources to pay the very much that it takes to receive this kind of medical care, they offer you first class services and care, so to speak. You get fast and good care, in a proper infrastructure, and they offer you all the services you need for your case.

However, in public healthcare, none of this is the case. Here you have to wait for years for care, which often is not even of high quality, if you are not seen in the same hallway, and what to say about the infrastructure, which is not worthy of anyone.

This situation is frustrating, but unfortunately this is the way things work in a country where everything becomes a business and that distinguishes for everything according to the social and economic class in which a person is, and where everything is seen as a product, even health, which is supposed to be a right of every person.

A good opportunity to change this reality is in the next constituent process, where those in charge of drafting the new constitution can stipulate a universal health system for all Chileans that is dignified and of quality. Because health should be considered as a right and not as a business.

Thanks for reading!
